Saxylizbeth, or Liz Mitchell as she also known, is a graduate of Middlesex University and is a versatile London based jazz/session/freelance woodwindist. Performing on Saxes, Clarinet and Flute, in an eclectic mix of bands and styles from Symphonic wind to Roots and jazz, funk and soul.

Member of cult favourites, the Voodoo Trombone Quartet and the up and coming Popes of Chillitown, Liz has also worked alongside Dennis Rollins with the Doncaster Jazz Orchestra and now performs with the Baker Street Big Band. An experienced pit worker (from Yorkshire..where else!) credits include Grease and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She also a member of the theatrical Gothabilly showpiece that is the Texas Chainsaw Orchestra, and working with the astounding songwriter/musician Ruth Theodore.

Liz is also an experienced classical player, and is a member of City of London Symphonic Winds, lead by the dynamic award-winning conductor John K Andrews. Shes also a member of the Wessex Band Summer School, held annually in Poole, playing  and workshopping some of the best wind music around.

Since studying Jazz Composition with Eddie Parker & Stuart Hall at Middlesex, Liz has been active on the music scene in London, performing at venues as diverse as Ronnie Scotts, The Shaw Theatre, St Pauls Covent Garden, The Rock Garden, Cargo, Dublin Castle, Purple Turtle, Carling Islington Academy, South London Pacific, Hope & Anchor and Mean Fiddler.

2008 brought the EP launch of the Popes of Chillitown, and theres now lots of preparation for a huge 2009. With the Texas Chainsaw Orchestra show residency confirmed, and the new albums for Voodoo Trombone Quartet and Ruth Theodore due in 2009, its a very exciting time!
